Turmeric Lentil Dhal

Fragrant, creamy and flavourful, this super simple Lentil Dahl is sure to become a staple in your weekly menu. Made by the brilliant Nikita (@kitseats) it is vegan, gluten-free, healthy and, as always, DELISH!

It has a wonderful mix of mild spices including garam masala, coriander, and our Turmeric SuperBlend, creating a warming dish with an amazing depth of flavour - ultimate comfort food! 


  • 1 large white onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 thumb fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp (13.7g) Naturya Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin, coriander and red chilli flakes
  • ½ tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp (5g) Naturya Turmeric Superblend
  • 190g uncooked red lentils
  • 470ml vegetable stock
  • 450g passata or tinned tomatoes
  • 490g plain soy or coconut yoghurt
  • Spinach
  • Salt
  • To serve: rice, quinoa or naan, fresh lime juice, fresh coriander


  • Peel and chop your onion, garlic and ginger.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of Coconut Oil or ¼ cup of water in a large pot then add the onions, garlic and ginger. Cook for a couple of minutes until soft.
  • Add in all your spices, Turmeric SuperBlend and some salt and cook for a couple more minutes until fragrant.
  • Add in your dry lentils, vegetable stock and passata and bring to a boil.
  • Lower the heat and leave to simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add in your yoghurt and spinach, cover and leave for another 5 minutes.
  • Add salt to taste and serve with rice, fresh lime juice and coriander.
