A fragrant, wholesome bread that’s super simple to make. A perfect accompaniment to soup, humous or as buttery toast.
How to make
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 ½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp dry instant yeast
½ tsp sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
¾ cup water (at room temperature)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
3 tsp Naturya Chia Seeds
Pour the chia seeds into a jug and cover with boiled water and wait for the seeds to swell.
In a mixing bowl, mix dry ingredients except for yeast and sugar.
Create a well in the mixture, add yeast and sprinkle sugar just right on it.
Pour a little water on them and mix.
Add olive oil, lemon juice, swollen chia seeds and rest of mineral water and mix
until you have a soft dough.
Place dough in a warm draught free place and wait for 45-60 minutes until it rises.
Preheat the oven at 180C.
Lay baking sheet on the baking tray.
Sprinkle a surface and your hands with some flour.
Split the dough into 16 equal pieces and roll each piece until it’s 8 inches long. Take 2 rolled pieces and wrap them around each other all the way to the end, curve them into a circle and join the ends using a bit of water as the glue. Using a little brush, dab the top with some water.
